Trump's New Rules: Why Should Indians Go To America Now?
Reportedly, this decision will severely impact the fast-growing Indian-American community in the United States.
Donald Trump assumed the role of the US president on Monday. He signed multiple executive orders after assuming the office and one of them was to cancel the birthright citizenship. Reportedly, this decision will severely impact the fast-growing Indian-American community in the United States.
Until now, any newborn child in America is given citizenship irrespective of parents' immigration status. But that will not be the case anymore. As per the new rules, any one parent of the child should either be an American citizen or green card holder or a member of the US Military.
This rule will impact Indians because the newly born children of Indians without green cards will not be given citizenship. As per the reports, more than 4.8 million Indian-Americans reside in the United States. Once the new rule is implemented, newly born babies of individuals who are working on temporary visas like H-1B or individuals waiting for green card approval will not be given citizenship.
They have to wait till their green card gets approved and only then, their children will get American citizenship. The rule will apply to immigrants from all countries residing in the United States. Anyways, it will be a huge blow to many Indian immigrants who are yet to get a green card.
On the other side, Trump also came up with the motto, "America First". It is heard that the idea behind this motto is to give priority to native Americans in the employment sector over immigrant individuals. It was reported that conditions would be imposed to employ immigrants in companies soon. This will be another huge blow for the majority of Indian immigrants who depend on IT jobs in America. If immigrants lose their job, they have to leave the US within 90 days. Such pathetic the situation will be.
Coming to the Indian students studying in America, right after Trump became the president, news reports started flowing in saying that 40 students in Chicago were detained for doing illegal part-time jobs. Many Indian students depend on these illegal part-time jobs to earn more money to clear the heavy amounts of loans their parents borrowed to send them to America. All such students are going to have a tough time under Trump's rule. We hear that Trump may make part-time rules for students stricter in the coming days.
If that happens, students will lose hope in studying in the US. They opined that with rules being imposed on part-time jobs and ending birthright citizenship, what would be the use of going thousands of miles away from families?
Compared to other countries, Trump's new rules are worrying Indian families who send their children to the US for higher studies with high hopes of them getting settled there. With these rules, they are now being sceptical to send their children by spending so much money.
