The infamous Visakha Steel Plant continues to heat up the politics in Andhra Pradesh, despite the fact that the Union Government made it clear that there is no possibility of reversing the decision in the privatisation row.
After the ruling and opposition parties opposing the proposal to privatise the VSP, former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), former Janasena party leader, V V Lakshminarayana too joined the fight to save the steel plant.
As a big step to fight for the VSP, V V Lakshminarayana has knocked on the doors of the Andhra Pradesh High Court with a public interest litigation petition against the privatisation row.
He filed the PIL to challenge the Union Government's decisions to privatise the VSP. The Andhra Pradesh High Court is likely to take up the PIL for a hearing on Wednesday.
The PIL has come out of nowhere as V V Lakshminarayana was seen nowhere in the political scene after calling quit from Janasena party with alleged disputes with the party leaders.
Earlier, V V Lakshminarayana has written to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi against the privatisation and reminded that steel produced in VSP was used for Vallabhbhai Patel's statue, the Statue of Unity, and Atal Tunnel. In the letter, he questioned is it fair to privatise the plant which contributed to making two marvel structures.
