Jeff Bezos to step down as Amazon CEO, Amazon Web Services head to replace him

American internet entrepreneur, industrialist, founder of multi-national technology company Amazon Jeff Bezos took a surprising decision to step down as Amazon Chief Executive Officer(CEO).

The Amazon founder has sent a letter to the employees of Amazon on the big decision. In the letter, Bezos said that the CEO transition will take place in the third quarter of 2021.

However, the second-richest person in the world said, he would take part in the crucial initiates of Amazon. He would shift his focus to philanthropic initiatives. He will focus on his dream project of space exploration.

Andy Jassy, who is currently taking care of Amazon's cloud business, Amazon Web Services as the head of the service will replace Jeff Bezos as the new Chief Executive Officer(CEO). Jassy has been associated with Amazon since 1997.

Over the years, Amazon emerged as one of the e-commerce giants. Amazon has also forayed into entertainment and Amazon Prime Video is one of the most profitable ventures of Amazon.

The incoming CEO holds an MBA degree from the Harvard Business School. After joining Amazon, Jassy played a crucial role in developing Amazon Prime Video as a leading entertainment service.
