Taking the route of Maharashtra, Karnataka is also witnessing record cases in the past few days. The other day, Karnataka went past the 10,000-mark in fresh Coronavirus with not less than 10,250 new Covid cases.
With the fresh infections getting increased at an alarming level, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said, he will impose a lockdown in the state if the pandemic infections don't come down in a week's time.
Before the lockdown, a night curfew will be imposed in selected areas in the state as a preventive measure. If the night curfew won't yield in a fruitful, the state might go for lockdown.
Given the massive spike in fresh Covid-19 infections, a night curfew was implemented in a few districts in the state. If the other districts too report more infections, we will take a call on the lockdown, he said.
Adding further, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of following appropriate Covid-19 behaviour like wearing facemasks and observing physical distance outdoors.
