The term 'Protocol' has a bigger relevance in Telangana politics. Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao and Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had an ugly face-off over the same protocol issue. Both of them openly targeted each other and Tamilisai gave an interview to a national channel and lashed out at the Telangana government.
Now the same protocol is increasing the political heat in the state. Usually, a Chief Minister has to welcome the Prime Minister coming to his or her state. This has been the rule. But this is not happening in Telangana. It is known that BRS and BJP are fighting each other.
The fight between the two parties increased after KCR started focusing on national politics. Adding fuel to this, the Delhi liquor scam came into the scene and Kavitha is one of the accused in the case. She was questioned a few times. BRS is alleging a political conspiracy behind this.
Ever since the fight between the parties started, KCR stopped welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi whenever he visited the state. When Modi came to the state to unveil the Statue of Equality, built after Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy, KCR did not receive him and a Cabinet Minister was sent for this.
A similar case happened another time and KCR did not receive Modi. Now the same is going to happen. Narendra Modi is coming to Hyderabad for the reconstruction of Secunderabad Railway station. But KCR will not receive him and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who earlier received Modi would receive him again.
We can understand that BRS and BJP have political differences. BJP is getting stronger in the state and this might have upset KCR and the gap between the parties increased. Earlier TRS was not against the BJP and KCR was among the few Chief Ministers who asked what was wrong with people clapping in balconies when the lockdown was imposed.
But it did not take much time for the tables to turn around and both parties turned political rivalries. However, a few political observers say that it would be good if KCR respects the PM position like other Chief Ministers do. Despite political rivalries, no other Chief Ministers does what KCR is doing with the protocol.
