CM Extends Support To Priya Varrier

Malayali beauty Priya Prakash Varrier(18) became an overnight sensation after the release of a song from 'Oru Adaar Love' movie.  Her beautiful expressions and eye-winking gestures took the internet by storm.

Priya Prakash is seen giving expressions in Kerala folk style while singing Manikya malaraya poovi song went viral just before Valentines Day.   Surprisingly, a case has been filed against the movie director in Falaknuma Police Station, Hyderabad claiming that their sentiments were hurt with the song.   They are saying that the lyrics were blasphemous as it mentions about Prophet Mohammed and his wife.

Responding to the controversies over the song, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijan extended his support to 'Oru Adaar Love' team.  He supported Priya Varrier saying that he will not allow intolerance in any form and uphold freedom of expression in art forms.   He said that PMA Jabbar penned lyrics based on Muslim traditional song Mapilla Pattu and Rafeeq sang it.  He reminded that the song was aired on Radio in 1978 itself and the song was sung in Muslim marriages for the last few decades. He said that arts and literature are weapons to fight against fundamentalism.
