YSRCP's renegade MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has proved that he is no political pushover. He has shown that he has an ace up his sleeve to shock the ruling YSRCP. The MLA, who has been thrown out of the YSRCP on charges of cross-voting in the recent MLC elections, has shown that he has the ability to take on the YSRCP in Nellore.
On Thursday, he organised a protest demanding immediate repairs to Potlapalem project. He rallied all the non-YSRCP parties including the TDP, Jana Sena, the left parties and even the BJP. He has shown his mobilising ability. A stung YSRCP got him arrested before the launch of the deeksha, but that did not have any effect on the protest programme.
As the news of his arrest petered in, the leaders of all the opposition parties have queued up to express their solidarity with him. They drove to his residence and stood in support of him. This show of rare unity has left the YSRCP leaders in Nellore baffled and bewildered.
This has shown that Sridhar Reddy cannot be pinned down that easily. He has shown that he can rally around the leaders of all the parties. He has also showed beyond any speck of doubt that he can get the people to support on any issue. The Thursday event has left the YSRCP thinking whether its decision to edge him out was a right one.
