Update: 2022-04-07 06:32 GMT
Our neighboring nation Sri Lanka is dealing with a severe crisis. The crisis had reached a point where people have reportedly started to steal commodities and groceries from others. The opposition leaders have made it clear that they cannot walk with the government now.

The ongoing crisis is said to be the worst ever for the island nation. Financial experts say that Sri Lanka's mistake of taking loans from dragon country China is haunting it and the decision is making the nation feel the heat. Seeing the horrible situation, India has been sending supplies to Sri Lanka.

Though the help done by India cannot bring a big change, it will help the Sri Lankan government to help at least a big percentage of people. A former Sri Lankan cricketer was moved by the help of India and showered praises on our country.

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasurya had lauded the efforts of India to help his nation, which is in deep trouble. The legendary player said that India had played a big brother role in helping Sri Lanka and it is highly appreciable that India is concerned about his country, reports say.

The veteran player had expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for sending help when the nation needed it the most. On this occasion, Sanath Jayasurya had also thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Sri Lankan Player also expressed his concerns over the situations prevailing in his country. Listing out the problems faced by his fellow nationals in getting the required things, he said people have to stand in long lines for hours to get things. He said that the situation might lead to disaster soon.

The crisis in the island nation has reached a saturation point and the people there are stepping out demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. All the MPs, including his son, have resigned from their positions pushing the government into a minority.

The protest against the President demanding his resignation is getting bigger and bigger. Not just the common people, the prominent and big personalities like the members of the cricketer fraternity are also extending their support to the demand. They want the crisis to end.
