The top leadership of the party has advised the Pinarayi Vijayan government of Kerala not to take too much interest in providing security to women visiting the Sabarimala temple.

The state government also accepted the party's advice immediately and has made preparations for the travel season starting on Sunday. Kerala's Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran said, "If a woman wants police protection to go to Sabarimala, she has to bring a court order."

After the Supreme Court's decision last year, the Kerala government had shown a special interest in giving entry to young women in the temple and whoever sought protection to reach the temple, would be provided to it. So far, 46 women in the 10-50 age group have applied online to go to Sabarimala.

The five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi Thursday said a larger bench will re-examine various religious issues, including the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple and mosques and the practice of female genital mutilation in the Dawoodi Bohra community.
