Low turnout at KCR's public meeting baffles TRS leaders

Is KCR's magic vanishing? Is he unable to mesmerise the general public with his oratorical skills anymore? What explains the poor turnout at the public meeting organised at Peddakalvala in Peddapalli assembly constituency on Monday? Sources say that fear of rains and overcast sky could have stopped the people from coming in large numbers.

However, there is a general complaint that none of the key political leaders from the region have worked on crowd mobilisation. All the stalwarts have passed the buck to the other leader. As a result, the turnout has been quite unimpressive. A large swathe of white empty chairs greeted the chief minister as he set out to begin his speech.

Ministers Koppula Eswar and Gangula Kamalakar and local MLA Dasari Manohara Reddy were tasked with the mobilisation of the crowds for the prestigious public meeting. They were asked to mobilise the public in a big way. However, the crowd was sparse and the response to KCR's speech was weaker.

To add to the woes of the elected people's representatives, even the small number that came to listen to KCR, began leaving the venue. Efforts by the organisers to cajole them to stay back proved futile. Last week's KCR's public meeting too was marked by low attendance, remind political observers.
