MHA Issues Key Guidelines To Restart Industrial Activities

Update: 2020-05-10 09:18 GMT
The Visakhapatnam gas leakage incident had shaken the whole country where 12 people were dead and thousands of people were hospitalised. After witnessing this tragic incident, the MHA has issued some key guidelines to restart industries activities across the country.

As per the guidelines, the companies should carry out a complete safety audit of the entire unit before resuming the activities. Cleaning of all pipelines, discharge lines and equipment need to be undertaken before resuming operations.

MHA also directed the companies to conduct several tests of plants and equipment which handle toxic substances or combustibles.

Before resuming the full fledged operation with full capacity and manpower, trial tests must be carried out in the plant. As per the guidelines, the companies should ensure the arrangement of round the clock emergency professional technical teams with MAH installations.

The Central government has made it clear that state governments should take the responsibility to implement the NDMA guidelines during the reopening of the Chemical and Manufacturing factories.
