Miss Universe 2017: Not India, South Africa bags it!

Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned as Miss Universe 2017 during the grand finale at the Planet Hollywood casino-resort in Las Vegas on Sunday.

India's Shraddha Shashidhar couldn't even make it to the Final 10 of Miss Universe beauty pageant. Miss South Africa, Miss Jamaica, Miss Colombia, Miss Thailand and Miss Venezuela are the final five finalists. While Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez is the first runner-up, Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett managed to be second runner-up.

As many as 92 contestants from across the World competed for Miss Universe 2017 title. This is the highest number in Miss Universe beauty pageant ever.

India won both Miss World (Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra) & Miss Universe (Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta) titles in 1994 and 2000. People of the tri-color nation expected Shraddha Shashidhar to bring home the Miss Universe title after Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World 2017. Unfortunately, She couldn't live up to the expectations.
