Move to shift judicial capital to Kurnool begins

Update: 2020-02-01 05:15 GMT
In an incident that shows the determination of YS Jagan Government to develop three capitals, the Chief Secretary of AP government has issued a notification shifting the para legal departments like the Vigilance Commission, Commissionerate of Enquiries and other similar offices to Kurnool. The notification was issued late on Friday night.

In this late night decision, the Kurnool district collector has been directed to ensure that buildings are provided for these departments. With this, the Government has officially and formally begun the decentralisation of the capital. As per Jagan Government's decision, the AP capital will be at three places. The judicial capital would be in Kurnool, while the administrative capital would be in Vizag. The legislative capital will remain at Amaravati. As part of this, the para legal authority offices would be shifted to Kurnool.

Interestingly, the latest order comes even as the High Court has directed the State government not to shift any office without its express permission. The Government cited administrative convenience as the reason for its latest move.
