CM Sacks Minister For Insulting Brahmins

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik wouldn't spare anyone who commits a mistake. Even his Council of Ministers can't escape if he finds something wrong with them.

Naveen Patnaik sacked State Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout for making objectionable remarks on the Brahmin Community. 'Derogatory remarks on any caste, creed and religion are unacceptable. Minister Damodar Rout has been dismissed. The decision was conveyed to Governor in the form of a letter,' informed CM.

At a district level festival in Malkangiri district, Damodar Rout commented Tribals would never beg in any situation but Brahmins begs for alms. Brahmin Community staged protests against the Minister in the past few days.

Damodar Rout is continuing as MLA since 1977. He is a trusted aide of Naveen Patnaik's Father Biju Patnaik. This 7-time MLA worked as Minister in 1979 for the first time. He bagged a berth in every cabinet of Naveen Patnaik and handled 15 portfolios so far. On many occasion, Damodar Rout submitted his resignation as Minister so far. In 2011, Naveen Patnaik sought his resignation for used the word 'Harijan' and facing a case.

In the recent past, Damodar Rout's remarks on Aganwad Workers, BJP Woman Leader and Farmers suicide stirred controversies. Brahmins comprise of 9 percent voters in Odisha. May be, That could be the reason why CM can't ignore the disrespectful comments made by his cabinet colleague.
