One Bhongir, Two Claimants

Update: 2020-08-21 05:42 GMT
One leader wants to bring back the glory that his parents had. The other one wants to retain his hold over the constituency. Well ... there is nothing wrong in this. But, there is going to be problem for sure if both the leaders are in the same party and want the same post.

This is the story of Alimineti Sandip Reddy and Bhongir MLA Pailla Sekhar Reddy. Sandip Reddy is son of former home minister Alimineti Madhava Reddy and Uma Madhava Reddy. His parents had a long run as MLA and were ministers too. Bhongir has always been their citadel. But, Pailla Sekhar Reddy had upset their apple cart and won consecutively from Bhongir in 2014 and 2018. Sandip Reddy is now the ZP chief and is now trying to get the party ticket from Bhongir in 2023, while Pailla wants to retain his seat. So, an intense battle for supremacy is on in Bhongir between these two leaders.

As of now, both the leaders are not on talking terms. Both the leaders also avoid one another. Recently, when there was a fish seed distribution programme, the MLA came early and left before Sandip Reddy, the ZP chief, came. Both crossed paths, but did not greet one another. 2023 is far away. But, the rivalry is only growing.
