Breaking: Accused SI Of Thoothukudi Custodial Deaths Succumbs To Ongoing Pandemic

As a major turn in the much talked about custodial deaths of a father and son that took place in Thoothukodi district of Tamil Nadu, a Sub-inspector, who is one of the accused in the cases succumbed to the ongoing pandemic.

Going into detail, 56-year-old  SI Pauldurai has been treated at a state-run hospital since the 24th of July after the police officer contacted the respiratory disease. He breathed his last on Sunday night.

The victims of the custodial deaths Jayaraj and his son Bennix were arrested by the cops on the 19th of July on the grounds of running the mobile shop even after the time slot that was fixed for the shops as the lockout was active.

Three days later, on the 22nd of June Bennix was admitted to hospital with difficulty in taking a breath and breathed his last breath undergoing treatment. The very next day Jayaraj too died

The incident attracted the national interest and people in the district hit the roads protesting against the incident. 10 police personnel are facing allegations of torturing the duo at the police station. Following this, all the 10 police personnel were shifted to Madurai Central Prison.
