The vaccination drive against the novel Coronavirus pandemic is underway in our neighbor country Pakistan. Sinopharm vaccine manufactured by China is being used in Pakistan for the drive. However, experts have some doubts over the safety offered by the China vaccine.

Adding fuel to these concerns, World-Cup Winning Capitan, serving Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan had come in contact with the Coronavirus, after taking the first dose of anti-Covid vaccine.

The Pakistan Prime Minister received the first dose of the vaccine on the 17th of March. Three days after taking the vaccine, he had tested positive for respiratory disease.

Imran Khan's special assistant on National Health Service, Faisal Sultan took to Twitter to break the news. Faisal said Imran Khan is observing self-isolation at his residence. "PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home," he tweeted.

Amid growing concerns over China vaccination, Pakistan's Ministry of National Health Services came in support of the vaccine and said Imran Khan is not vaccinated fully. Antibodies will be developed two to three weeks after taking the second dose of the vaccine, the Ministery said.

"Prime Minister Imran Khan was not fully vaccinated when he contracted the virus. He only got the 1st dose and merely 2 days ago which is too soon for ANY vaccine to become effective. Anti-bodies develop 2-3 weeks after 2nd dose of 2-dose COVID vaccines," the Ministry's tweet reads.
