Legendary Poet's Padma Medals Stolen

Kannada Legendary  poet late K V Puttappa (Kuvempu) house was burgled on wee hours. The robbery was happened in Kuvempu’s birthplace among the stolen articles is his Padma awards  and citations.

The mementos had been on display at a museum honouring the poet. The burglars entered the place after cutting off the CCTV links and fled with the medals kept in the ancestral home of Puttappa.

Puttappa is the first Kannada writer to get Jnanpith in 1967.The poet's ancestral house has been converted into a memorial.

Security guard Manjunath alerted the fellow guards after heard a noise inside. But by the time the burglar had escaped. As per police the thieves made away with the medals presented to Kuvempu with the Padma Bhushan (1958) and Padma Vibhushan (1988) titles.

Police released CCTV footage on social media and announced a reward of 10,000 for information about the thief.
