A major controversy erupted at Chandigarh University after a few students gave a call for protest alleging that their private videos were leaked online. Since yesterday evening, protests have been going on at the University premises. The students are demanding strict action against the guilty in the controversy.
The Punjab Police swung into action and the accused girl who is believed to have sent the video to a person has been arrested. A few mobile phones and electronic devices were seized and the cops are investigating who shot the video and how many videos were shot and uploaded.
Mohali SSP Vivek Soni who spoke to the media on the issue gave a new path to the controversy and said that their investigation found only one video and the video is of her bathing. The video was sent to her boyfriend who stays in Mohali.
Going by the information shared by the SSP, the girl recorded herself and sent it to her boyfriend. The other girls thought she was recording all of them and staged a protest. The cops also said that they have found only one video and that further investigation is underway.
"The student said she only recorded her own video. And in our investigation also, we have found out that there is one video. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been seized and will be sent for forensic examination," Vivek Soni said speaking to the media.
The students are alleging that their bath videos were leaked. But the cops are telling another story. According to the cops, the accused girl shot her video and the mobile phone used by her also says the same. The SSP also rubbished the reports which say that a few students might have made a suicide attempt.
There is a deadly trend which is followed by lovers these days. They send nude pictures and private videos to their partners and face the heat often. It looks like, the same happened in the University too and the girl recording her video made others draw conclusions.
The controversy had increased the heat in the state. The ruling party AAP assured the students and parents that they will crack the case at the earliest and asked them to be patient as the case is a sensitive one. The Women's Commission also took a strong objection to the issue.
