Another member of the Gandhi-Nehru family is all set to enter the political arena. Nehru family's daughter-in-law Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra has announced that he would enter politics and contest the elections. Robert Vadra is the husband of Priyanka Vadra, who is the sister of Rahul Gandhi.

Vadra said that he wanted to fight the policies and principles of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the only way to do it is to join politics. He said he would like to become an MP to fight the BJP.  In an interview given to a media organization, he expressed the desire to enter into electoral politics.

India's first prime minister's family has deep roots in politics. Nehru's father Motilal Nehru was a prominent political leader in the pre-independence area. Nehru's sister Vijayalakshmi Pandit was a politician-cum-diplomat. His daughter Indira Gandhi was the PM for a long time. Her both sons – Sanjay and Rahul Gandhi, daughters-in-law Maneka and Sonia, grandsons Varun Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, grand daughter Priyanka Gandhi and close relatives Arun Nehru have joined politics.

Vadra has of late been organizing several service activities.  This has led to speculations that he is interested in joining electoral politics. Vadra's have traditionally been RSS backers. But Robert Vadra, a convert, has been critical of the BJP all through. As Priyanka's husband, he has all along kept aloof from active politics. But, now, he appears to have made up his mind to join active politics.
