How was Chandrababu Naidu's recent Delhi tour? Insipid, uninspiring and eventless, say those who have watched Chandrababu's tour. Chandrababu had gone to Delhi to speak against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. But, not many leaders of the non-BJP parties have shown any interest in meeting him. They were lukewarm towards him.
The reason? As long as Chandrababu was part of the NDA, he had never tried to make even courtesy calls to the non-BJP parties. In fact, all the non-Congress, non-BJP parties were close to him as he was in the United Front. He was instrumental in making Devegowda and IK Gujral prime ministers. He was then chairperson of the NDA for over five years. During this time, he was on close terms with several regional parties. But, after he joined the NDA in 2014, Chandrababu ignored all these leaders. He had simply stopped calling them. He was busy meeting Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and others. He used to wrap shawls around their shoulders and offer them Tirupati prasadams. So, the non-BJP leaders have seen through Chandrababu's plans. They have realized that he would call them only when they are of some use to him. So, all these leaders reacted very coldly to Chandrababu's overtures.
