Sharad Pawar snubs KCR, says no Front without Congress Party

Update: 2022-04-14 11:47 GMT
In what is being seen as a clear snub to Telangana CM KCR's dreams of a non-Congress third front to counter the Modi juggernaut, senior politician and Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar said that a third front sans Congress was not possible. He said that while he is all for the unity of the regional parties, they should include the Congress Party too.

His statement made in Mumbai the other day is being seen as a significant development. It may be recalled that KCR has recently met Sharad Pawar and claimed that he had made considerable progress in his talks with the Maratha strongman. However, Sharad Pawar’s latest statement shows that the claims made by KCR were not right.

This statement has clearly indicated that Sharad Pawar is not ready to join any third front that has no Congress in it. He has said that Congress should be part of any anti-BJP formulation. Thus, after DMK, KCR has been snubbed by Sharad Pawar too in his attempts to carve out a non-Congress, non-BJP alternative at the national level.

Ever since he has come in contact with poll strategist Prashant Kishor, KCR has been entertaining national level political ambitions. He was reportedly advised by PK to focus on uniting non-Congress regional parties like the Trinamool Congress, the DMK, Shiv Sena and the NCP. KCR did meet the leaders of these parties, but with not much success.
