The Palisades Fire in Los Angeles created a huge devastation. The fire claimed at least 24 lives and reduced numerous homes to ashes. According to the Washington Post, the blaze may have originated from fireworks set off on New Year’s Eve. There are reports that the fire initially got extinguished, but then strong winds reignited it.

Investigators have identified the fire's origin using satellite imagery, video evidence, radio communications, and interviews. They claim that the fire originated from the place where fireworks are lit.

However, when the second blaze erupted, the response from firefighters was reportedly slower. Residents expressed frustration over the delay, noting that first responders were prompt and efficient.

Michael Valentine, a resident, and his wife contacted the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) as soon as they noticed the fire reigniting. Witnesses recalled seeing a helicopter attempting to douse the flames but failing due to intense winds. A second helicopter arrived nearly 45 minutes later, but it carried no water.

One resident blamed the tragedy on individuals irresponsibly setting off fireworks to celebrate the holiday, an act prohibited in the area.
