Song, we all know, is the most powerful weapon to galvanise the people. It can mobilise them, motivate them and make them vote for the chosen candidate. This time around, one candidate from Kerala simply sang her way to the Lok Sabha. Ramya Haridas, a folk singer and a Dalit activist, contested on a Congress ticket from Alathur in Kerala. At every election rally of hers, she sang folksongs and soon this caught up with thousands attending her rallies singing and dancing with her. She defeated powerful two-time CPM MP Biju with a handsome margin.
If Ramya used song to win the elections, Assam education minister Himantha Biswa Sharma used dance to woo the voters. Himantha, who did not contest the Lok Sabha elections, has conducted over 200 roadshows in Assam. In all his rallies he danced during the road shows to the tune of 'Akou Ei Baar Modi Sarkar' (Modi Government once again). He popularised this song so much that this has become the BJP anthem in Assam.
His road shows were such a rage that thousands attended them and matched step with step with the minister. Himantha Biswa Sharma is the chief strategist of the BJP victory in Assam and the North East.
