Supreme Court Turns Away Petitions Filed To Postpone JEE-NEET Examinations
The Supreme Court which heard a petition regarding postponement of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) refused to issue orders to cancel the exams.
The three-judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice Arun Mishra quashed the petition field and asked are the Students ready to waste one year which is a loss to both the country and the students.
The case reached the Supreme Court after 11 students who hail from 11 different states knocked on the doors of the Apex court seeking the orders to postpone the exams that are scheduled to be held in September.
The petitioners told the court that the situation in India reached an alarming level and requested the court to issue orders to conduct the exams when the situation gets normal.
Lawyer Alak Alok Srivastava who is representing the students appealed to the Supreme Court that students are expecting relief from the court in this regard.
On the other hand, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta representing the National Testing Agency (NTA) told the Supreme Court that while conducting the exams all the safety measures will be taken.
