Ban On Mobiles In Tamil Nadu Colleges

Tamil Nadu Government took a shocking decision...Cellphones have been banned on campuses across the state. Directorate of Collegiate Education issued a circular in this regard to all regional joint directors so as to info that the rule applies for all Government, Aided and Self-Financing Colleges.

Centre-run Institutions such as IIT Madras received an exemption from the ban.

A Principal of a Private College opined that misuse of smartphones led to the ban. She complains about Students filming Female Students/ Faculty Members in embarrassing positions and circulate them on social media.

Students, however, call the ban as a regressive movie. They question if it's fair enough to make everyone pay the price for the wrongdoings of few people.

A Literature Student opined that boasting of Digital India and imposing a ban on mobiles doesn't make sense.

A Journalism Student claims to be depending on internet via phones for everything. She questions whether ban on mobiles guarantee women safety.
