To beat oxygen crisis, UP govt makes doctor's prescription mandatory to sell oxygen!
Uttar Pradesh, which is battling the shortage of oxygen supply for the Covid-19 patients, has come up with a new rule for people, who buy oxygen cylinders or refill the cylinders.
The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government announced a new rule that a doctor's prescription is compulsory to buy oxygen. A Government Order was also issued in this regard.
Addressing the media, Additional chief secretary (information) Navneet Sehgal said, the rule was made mandatory to see that oxygen cylinders were not stored in homes.
When the government is taking the required measures to see that oxygen is supplied as per the need, people are keeping oxygen cylinders at their homes, which is resulting in a shortage of oxygen supply.
To see that the oxygen shortage won't create an issue, the oxygen cylinders and refilling now require a doctor's prescription. Without a prescription oxygen will not be sold, he said.
It is also said that the Police will be deployed at the oxygen filling centres while the oxygen is sold.
