The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board that runs the second richest temple in the world, Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, came up with a noble idea of serving meals to the pilgrims.
Though the tradition of serving meals and food to the devotees has been followed since ages, TTD had decided to encourage organic farming.
The items and ingredients that go into the menu offered at the Annamayya Bhavan are purely organic and natural. The TTD had started the initiative of providing food items that were made organically.
The meals are named as 'Sampradaya Bhojanam' which means the traditional meals come with as many as 14 dishes. The dishes will be served on a banana leaf.
As a pilot project, the Sampradaya Bhojanam will be served to the devotees for eight days. The initiative was started on Thursday.
As per the new initiative, the food provided for the devotees, Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be of organic ingredients. The move was made by the TTD to give the much needed pushup for organic farming and the usage of desi Cow products.
Not just serving the food items made of organic ingredients to the devotees, the TTD members are also taking the opinions of the devotees on the food and asking if there is anything to change in the food items.
The pilot project of the Sampradaya Bhojanam at the Annamayya Bhavan was started in a big way on Thursday. A few former members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board also had organic food and lauded the current board members for promoting the organic food.
The fresh development comes as the shot in the arm to the efforts being made by the TTD to endorse the usage of organic ingredients.
Earlier, the board had launched a good initiative to prepare Prasadam which is offered to the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara with the organic ingredients.
The move to use Desi Cow ghee to make Prasadam which is sold to the devotees in Tirumala was very well received by one and all. After receiving a thumping response from the devotees, the TTD board is also coming up with such initiatives which is a good thing.
