TRS Says No Power Cuts, But Mayor Wants Generator

Update: 2021-03-06 03:33 GMT
GHMC's new mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi seems to have a penchant for making 'foot-in-the-mouth' comments. She seems to be embarrassing not just the party, but herself too. Even before the people got over her shocking statements that she prays that Hyderabad should not get rains for five years, here's another.

On one hand, the TRS Government is proudly proclaiming that there are no power outages in the state. On the other, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi dropped a bombshell when she wrote to the Municipal Commissioner seeking a 25 KV generator at her camp office due to frequent power disruptions. By this one letter, she has successfully undone all the campaign that the TRS has been doing. The TRS has been claiming that there are no power cuts in the state. But, the mayor says that there are indeed frequent power cuts. This has left the TRS leadership, which is now neck-deep in election campaign, red-faced. Not only has she embarrassed KCR, but even her father K Keshava Rao.

Meanwhile, the netizens began trolling her about her comments. They said since she was in a position of power, she could use the government funds and apparatus to get a generator installed at her camp office, which actually is her home. What about the commoners, they asked.

Realising that she had put her foot firmly in the mouth, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi tried to correct herself. She said since there were electrical works going in her colony, there were occasional power outages and that this was disrupting her work at the camp office. But, by that time, the damage was already done.
