US Firm Made To Pay $1.1M To 594 Indians

The Department of Labour's Wage and Hour Division came to know during the investigation that Populus Group, an American Employment Service Firm, failed to pay hundreds of H-1B Employees appropriate wages when worksites were shut down for holidays. Following which, The Company agrees to pay $1.1 million  in back wages to all the 594 H-1B Employees.

In addition, Populus Group is going to review previous and current payroll records to ensure compliance with H-1B Foreign Labour Certification Programme. This Company is based in Troy, Michigan.

Wage & Hour District Director Timeline Mitchell told, 'H-1B Foreign Labour Certification Programme is meant to help American Companies overcome shortage of US Workers by hiring Highly Skilled Foreigners. What happened in this case reflects the commitment to safeguard American Jobs. Nobody must be paid less than what they legally deserves'.

US Employers will have to pay the wages to H-1B Workers at least on par with the American Workers with similar qualification and experience.
