Till the other day, he was a vegetable vendor and a permanent fixture in the weekly markets. But, a quirk of fate turned him into the chairperson of the very municipality where he sold vegetables. This is the story of a young man from Rayachoti in Kadapa district.
Sheikh Basha, a graduate, did not get a job and took to vending vegetables in the local market of Rayachoti. However, he became very popular among the customers with his pleasing demeanor and friendly transactions. Impressed by his work, the YSRCP gave him a councilor ticket in the just-concluded elections. Basha managed to win the elections. On Thursday, he was elected the municipal chairperson of Rayachoti.
An elated Basha thanked YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and said that he had never expected this honour. He said that the YSRCP has given top priority to the women, weaker sections and the minorities. He said that the party had given posts to women, STs, SCs and BCs in a big way.
