What Can Centre Do About AP Capital?

Update: 2019-12-25 07:18 GMT
YCP Government took the decision to ensure Amaravati remains as a legislative capital while planning to make Visakhapatnam into an administrative capital and Kurnool as a judicial capital. While the Amaravati Farmers kept staging protests since a week opposing this policy decision, Lawyers moved the High Court seeking reversal of the decision.

Hoping that the Central Government would intervene, Hundreds of Amaravati Farmers sent letters to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through speed post explaining their concerns about the shifting of the capital from Amaravati. They even began using the photographs of NaMo in the dharnas staged against three capitals proposal. This is a strategic move to gain the support of BJP Leadership for the agitation.

State Government have every right to decide when & where the capital has to be established. Sri Krishna Committee appointed by Centre post bifurcation suggested capital at a different location, but then TDP Government preferred Amaravati as the new capital. Has the Union Government done anything to reverse the decision? Either Modi or Shah can only advise Jagan to drop the 3 capitals proposal. Certainly, The Delhi Leaders won't be in a position to dictate terms to the State Government when it comes to the capital issue.

Political Observers say, 'If State Government goes against its wishes, Centre might deny financial assistance and trouble it by not issuing necessary clearances. Other than that, Nothing can be done by the Union Government in this matter'.
