Former President APJ Abdul Kalam is known for his simplicity and humility. Here is one such incident which acts as a best example of how great he is as a person.
When he was the President of India, Abdul Kalam refused to sit in a chair which was specially arranged for him just because it appeared to be larger in size then the other ones at the event. This incident happened at the convocation of IIT Varanasi for which Kalam attended as the chief guest.
Management of IIT Varanasi arranged five chairs on the stage. While the centre one being for the sake of President, rest of the four were for the University's top officials. Soon after noticing the difference between his and other chairs, Kalam refused to sit and instead offered his chair to the vice chancellor of the University. Immediately, Another chair which is similar to the four chairs was brought on the stage for the President.
Abdul Kalam will remain in the hearts of Indians forever as India's top scientist and most loved President. Will always be grateful to you SIR!
