Was the whole debate about the migrant labourers a theatric aimed at scoring browny points? If the current trend is any indication, this appears to be a mere drama to defame the governments and cause unrest.
While the likes of Sonu Sood and some other good Samaritans arranged for the travel of the migrant workers, the political class did precious little for the migrant workers. None of the Opposition parties have arranged for buses to ply the migrant labourers. The only attempt made by Priyanka Vadra ended up as a disaster. The Central Government has come forward with the plan of running Shramik trains. But, there seem to be no takers for them. On Tuesday, the Central Government told the High Court that not a single request for Shramik Express came from the state government. There has been no request for Shramik Express from June 1, the Central Government told the Court.
A shocked High Court expressed dismay at the development and questioned the state government about the fate of the directions it had given in the past. The court also told the State Government not to view PILs as anti-Government moves. They should be seen as attempts to help the people, it said.
