Why Is Bjp Becoming Strong In Allagadda?

Update: 2021-06-28 07:54 GMT
The once-powerful Telugu Deam Party is fast becoming a thing of past in Kurnool district's Allagadda assembly constituency. The party, which once, ruled the roost is now almost dormant. The contest in Allagadda is fast becoming a tussle between the ruling YSRCP and the BJP. The fight has become so intense that MLA's acolytes reportedly made a deadly attack on Allagadda BJP incharge Bhuma Kishore Reddy's camp follower Gopalapuram Asaan.

Once powerful former minister Bhuma Akhilapriya is now trying hard to join the YSRCP. As a result, the TDP is completely orphaned in Allagadda. There is a traditional rivalry between Bhuma family and Gangula family. The Gangulas were given the YSRCP ticket in 2019 as Bhuma Akhilapriya had joined the TDP. Gangula Bijendra Reddy is now the MLA of Allagadda.

Bhuma Akhilapriya's brother Kishore Reddy has now joined the BJP. He is a powerful politician known to fight for his cadres.  Since his joining, he has been trying to oppose Gangulas. As a result, Kishore Reddy has emerged as a rallying point for all those who oppose Gangula family. What more? Kishore is also bringing the erstwhile followers of Akhilapriya. Thanks to his efforts, the BJP had won two seats in Allagadda municipality. In fact, even the TDP could win just two seats.

His emergence as a leader who can take on Gangula Bijendra Reddy is a huge opportunity for the BJP to strengthen itself.  At the same time, Kishore Reddy was slapped with cases under provisions of spawning communal hatred and resorting to sedition. Yet, Kishore Reddy is going ahead with gusto. On Tuesday, leaders from the state team are going to visit Allagadda to express solidarity with Kishore Reddy.
