The TDP in Andhra Pradesh is desperately looking to align with the BJP. The TDP knows this is its passport for electoral success. Though the BJP's strength is quite negligible in AP, the TDP wants the BJP on its side as it knows that alone it cannot defeat the YSRCP despite the recent electoral successes.
However, the big question is why would the BJP trust the TDP. The BJP is quite cut up with the TDP because of how the latter dealt with it during the 2014-2019 period. Even a strongman like Amit Shah was attacked in Tirupati. Chandrababu actively colluded with anti-BJP forces in the run-up to the 2019 elections. The BJP is not ready to forget and forgive all this.
Even now, the TDP has not shown any inclination to help the BJP in Telangana. So far it has not come out openly on any issue including the question paper leakage. The TDP has not even issued a statement on this. Even when the BRS has got Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay arrested, the TDP did not react.
Sources say that the TDP is mortally afraid of the BRS government in general and KCR in particular. It is also afraid that the BRS will rake up the cash for vote scam in which Chandrababu Naidu was involved. The big question is that why would the BJP trust the TDP if it is not even opening its mouth in Telangana? How will it extend an olive branch in Andhra Pradesh?
