US Lawmakers Reject H-1B Visa Reforms

The plan to curb H-1B Visa extensions by Trump Administration has been firmly opposed by US Lawmakers and Advocacy Groups. If passed, This Bill will lead to self-deportation of 5 to 7.5 lakh Indian Americans.

Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard opined such restrictions on H-1B Visa Holders will tear families apart, drain US of talent and strain the India-US ties. She warned about the possibility of brain drain hurting innovation and making US less competent in 21st Century.

Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi said ending H-1B Visa extensions would hurt American Economy and drive firms to increase offshore jobs.

Aman Kapoor of Immigration Voice feels curbing H-1B extension leads to mass exodus of close to 1.5 million people (7.5 lakh H-1B visa holders, 7.5 lakh spouses and children).
