Will Khammam witness Puvvada vs Ponguleti battle in 2023?

Update: 2023-01-04 07:28 GMT
The Khammam headache for the BRS, it appears, is refusing to go. The Khammam TRS/BRS leaders are at war with themselves. The latest drama is between minister Ajay Puvvada and former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. The New Year celebrations organised separately by the supporters of both the leaders have become virtual shows of strength between the two leaders.

While Ajay Puvvada is dismissing Ponguleti as inconsequential seasonal politician, Ponguleti has affirmed that he would contest the 2023 elections come what may. If sources are to be believed, he is all set to leave the BRS and contest from Khammam assembly constituency, which currently is represented by Ajay Puvvada himself.

This only means  that there is going to be a showdown between the two leaders. This also implies that Ponguleti will not be contesting on the BRS ticket. Sources close to Ponguleti say that he is all set to join the BJP and contest as its candidate from Khammam. Responding to this, Ajay Puvvada said that seasonal politicians suddenly get active during the time of elections.

Sources say that besides Ponguleti, several other leaders are in touch with the BJP, which is fast emerging as a credible alternative to the ruling BRS. Ponguleti, who remained with the BRS, despite not being given any position, has been indicating for the past few months that he would chart his own course very soon. He is also unhappy that the TRS top leadership is not giving him any importance in the party. So, he has decided to take the tough decision, say his supporters.
