With 80,472 New Infections, India's Caseload Pass Surged 6.2 Million-Mark

The total  Coronavirus caseload in India pass surged the 62 lakh-mark, after over 80,000 fresh infections were reported across the states in the last 24 hours. India saw a rise in fresh infections compared to yesterday.

According to the information provided by the Union Health Ministry, as many as  80,472 patients were infected with the dreaded virus in the last 24 hours. This pushes the total toll of cases to 62,25,764.

The fresh COVID-19 casualties increased in the past 24 hours with 1179 people breathing their last battling the virus. So far, 97497 patients succumbed to the virus with a mortality rate of 1.6 percent.

Day after making a global record in COVID-19 recoveries, India reported 86,428 fresh recoveries in the span of 24 hours, which pushes the total recoveries to 51,87,826. The recovery rate rose to 83.3 percent.

In the last 24 hours, Telangana witnessed 2,103 fresh infections and 11 new casualties. With this, the total infections and COVID-19 fatalities mounted to 1,91,386 and 1127 respectively.

On Tuesday, Telangana witnessed  6190 fresh cases, taking the total cases in the state to 687351. So far,  5780 patients have succumbed to the contagious disease in the state.

According to the data collected by the famous Johns Hopkins University, as many as 33,832,531 patients were diagnosed with the virus globally. 25,135,889 patients have been recovered from the virus, while 1,011,960 lives were claimed.

United States (7,405,966), India (6,225,763), Brazil (4,780,317) and Russia (1,167,805) are the top four worst-affected nations globally. These nations account for 70 percent of global cases.
