Despite the massive drubbing in the 2019 elections and despite the loss of relevance at both the state and the Central level, Chandrababu Naidu's publicity machinery and the media apparatus is still largely in tact. He is still able to set the news agenda and make headlines go the way he wants.
Consider this. Chandrababu is crying hoarse that the YSRCP was not allowing the TDP leaders to file nominations for the upcoming local body polls. But the fact is that the TDP has already filed 1413 nominations for the 652 ZPTC seats. For the 9696 seats, as many as 18242 TDP nominees have filed their papers. The statistics show that at least two TDP persons have filed their papers for every seat. Also, the number of unanimous elections is negligible unlike during the TDP regime where the YSRCP was not even allowed to file the nominations. As for violent incidents, the number of incidents now is far too less compared to what it was during the TDP regime. Yet, Chandrababu Naidu is making a huge issue of these and the media favourable to him is highlighting these comments to no end.
The real problem for Chandrababu is the deluge of resignations from the party. Several big names in the party have quit the TDP and have joined the YSRCP. Due to this, the party has lost local satraps who could sway the voting patterns. To cover up his nervousness, Chandrababu is going ballistic and is attacking the YSRCP.
