Everyone Fearing Independents In AP Elections?
Aspirants who won't get the tickets are said to be gearing up for independent fights. The political observers say that if the independent candidates can get the big momentum then they can split the votes.
The aspirants who won't get the tickets from the parties contesting as independents is not a new trend. However, the count of independent candidates is shrinking in the nation slowly. As aspects like election costs, tough competition, increase in major parties count, caste and economic status of the aspirants play a key role, the independent candidates have seen a big dip. Even in the recent Telangana elections, fewer independent candidates contested.
Talking about Andhra Pradesh, the election notification might be released in 40 days. With this, the political parties are announcing candidates. Aspirants who won't get the tickets are said to be gearing up for independent fights. The political observers say that if the independent candidates can get the big momentum then they can split the votes. Kurnool sitting MP Sanjeev Kumar who pinned high hopes on the seat had quit the party. It is said that he is not interested in joining other parties and he might gear up for an independent fight.
Muddaraboina Venkateswararao who expected the Nuzvid Assembly seat is likely to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections. For this, he is touring in villages extensively to strengthen his group. When he was denied a ticket in TDP, many felt that YCP might give him a ticket. But that might not happen as a senior leader is in the race from YCP.
With this, Muddaraboina is gearing up for an independent fight. Mandali Buddha Prasad who hoped for the Avanigadda ticket is also expected to take the same path. As he is not interested in joining the YCP, many say that he wants to contest as an independent candidate due to the pressure from his supporters. Though he said he was denied a ticket he did not say he would not contest the elections. Either he or his son is likely to contest as an independent candidate.
