The Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued a notice to popular cab companies Ola and Uber after complaints about price differences for the same rides on Android and iOS devices. Consumer Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi shared this update on Thursday, revealing that the Department of Consumer Affairs has asked both companies to explain the situation.

The issue arose when commuters noticed that fares for the same ride were displayed differently on Android phones compared to iPhones. Many users reported that the fares were higher on iOS devices.

Experts believe this pricing difference might be linked to how ride-hailing apps access hardware data on different devices, a process users consent to when installing the app.

The CCPA's notice to Ola and Uber is aimed at understanding and addressing these pricing disparities, leaving many riders wondering what the outcome of this investigation will mean for future fare structures.
