Ancient history was dominated by kings and invasions. Strong kings invade other countries to expand their footprints. We have read the history in our textbooks. It is fascinating to learn about them and the things they used. The old things are called antiques and they have a big demand. If such things are kept on auction we can see massive numbers.

French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte is a big name that needs no introduction. The emperor had a big space in literature and history too. His guns were auctioned for a record price. Two pistols were kept for auction and they were auctioned for €1.69m.

As per the information shared by BBC, the two pistols owned by French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte were auctioned at the Osenat auction house. It is said that the guns attracted more money than expected.

Talking about the specialty of the guns, they were manufactured by Paris gunmaker Louis-Marin Gosset. It is said that Silver and Gold were used in the guns and they had pictures of the emperor.

The reason behind the massive craze for guns was that the French emperor reportedly wanted to kill himself with them. The emperor lost the battle to the foreign forces in 1814. However, the powder in the guns was removed.

Later the French emperor gave the guns to Military officer Caulaincourt who passed them onto the next generation. The government identified them as national treasures and imposed a ban on exporting them. However, despite this, the guns were auctioned.

This is not the first time the things used by Napoleon Bonaparte were auctioned for a record price. His tricorne hats were sold for a record price of €1.9m at a Paris auction earlier in November last year.
