Olympic Committee Tells Good News To Cricket Fans!

It said that the IOC session gave its nod to the proposal made by the Organising Committee to add five games including Cricket.

Days after India won two prestigious Gold at the Asian Games 2023, the Olympic Committee dropped big news that Cricket is proposed to be played for the 2028 edition of the Olympics which will be played in Los Angeles. Since then cricket fans have been eagerly waiting to see what will happen.

It looks like the prayers of the cricket fans are addressed as Cricket is included in the prestigious games. At a key meeting, the Committee announced that Cricket and four other games are also included in the games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) had a key session in Mumbai and the big decision was announced.

Taking to social media, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) broke the big news. It said that the IOC session gave its nod to the proposal made by the Organising Committee to add five games including Cricket. Baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes), and squash are the other games.

A key session was held in Mumbai and a vote was held to decide how to go forward with the suggestions. In the voting, the majority of the votes came in favour while two votes were polled to oppose the inclusion.

Talking about Cricket, it will be played in the T20 format as played in the Asian Games. With this, the cricketing nations will have better chances of eyeing the medal in the sport.

ICC has been trying to see that Cricket is played at the prestigious Olympics. A delegation of the global cricket governing body met the Olympic body to give a presentation on the game.

On the other hand, Cricket is making a re-entry into the event after a long back. The last time Cricket was played at the Olympics was in 1900. At the 1900 Summer Olympics, Cricket was played between France and Great Britain. The touring side British crushed the hosts and won Gold. Now the sport is going to be played in the 2028 edition of the event.
