Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, known for special songs and good roles at the beginning of her career, faced a major legal hurdle as the Supreme Court refused to quash the Rs 215 crore ED case against her, upholding the Delhi High Court’s earlier orders.

The case, filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), involves alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The Enforcement Directorate claims Jacqueline accepted luxury gifts, jewellery, clothes, and vehicles worth over Rs 7 crore, despite knowing his criminal background. The agency also alleges she deleted data from her phone after Sukesh’s arrest and initially concealed details of her transactions. Jacqueline has contested the charges, insisting she was unaware of Sukesh’s alleged illegal activities.

The Supreme Court bench, including Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih, dismissed her plea, stating that allegations must be accepted at this stage and innocence cannot be assumed before the trial. The court emphasized that judicial processes rely on evidence and hearings, giving Jacqueline the chance to present her defense later during the trial while the case continues.

The Delhi High Court previously turned down a similar request in July 2025, stating that offering relief before formal charges are established would be too early and might mislead the criminal justice system.

Despite this difficulty, Jacqueline's situation remains under heavy public and media attention. Supporters and people within the industry are closely following her case, hoping to see how she handles this challenge. As the legal battle continues, her story is one of the most prominent cases in recent times, and her ability to persist shows her strength and determination.
