Popular Football team Manchester United's new stadium plan has been submitted recently. According to an Oxford Economics report, the new stadium with a capacity of over 100,000 as a part of the iconic Old Trafford redevelopment is going to bring 81,000 crores of income to Britain. This became a sensation and the club submitted a report suggesting that it would benefit Greater Manchester financially and socially.
The Glazers and billionaire Jim Ratcliff who own the club are taking this plan forward. The new stadium is going to cost 2 billion dollars while there are proposals of renovating the 74,000-seated old stadium. The apartments, shopping complexes, transport facilities surrounding the stadium are also taking into consideration. According to the new plan 92,000 new jobs and 17,000 new homes will be given according to the estimate.
INEOS made an official statement which reads, “Following the closing of the Offer and the acquisition of the Class B shares, Sir Jim has invested $200 million into the club for additional Class A and Class B shares via a primary issuance, resulting in ownership of approximately 27.7% of the club's Class A shares and 27.7% of the club's Class B shares, with a further $100 million to be invested by 31 December 2024. These funds are intended to enable future investment in infrastructure at Old Trafford.”
Andy Burnham who is the Mayor of Greater Manchester stated, “What you have here is the huge potential to fix the rail system of the northwest of England. They won't have to have the freight disruption. What that then does is free up the space around Old Trafford so the club is able to have all of its options looked at and has the biggest possible footprint to use so it can bring forward the most ambitious regeneration. We hope it's the best football stadium in the world, which brings benefits to residents around it.”
