The political fever gripped the state already and we are seeing some interesting developments. Leaders are switching sides from one party to another party if tickets are denied.
Making the political picture in Andhra Pradesh more interesting, YS Sharmila joined the AP Congress fold. She was made the state chief and she formally assumed the office. On day one itself, Sharmila made her intentions clear and sent a strong message that her approach would be aggressive.
If we look at state politics, family members of two families are leading four different parties. The list includes the Chief Minister and former Chief Minister as well. The YS and Nandamuri families are dominating the political landscape.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy: Son of YSR is serving as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is also the head of the YSRCP which recorded a landslide victory in previous elections. With this Jagan and YSR joined the elite list of father-son duo who became CMs of the state.
YS Sharmila: Jagan’s sibling was made the AP Congress chief recently. Sharmila who entered Telangana politics to offer Rajanna Rajyam changed her arena and entered AP politics. She is leading the Congress party in AP as the PCC Chief. She is the second family member of the YS family to lead a political party.
Chandrababu Naidu: The former Chief Minister is the chief of the Telugu Desam Party. He is the son-in-law of the late NTR, the founder-chief of the grand old party. Later he became the chief of the opposition party in the state.
Daggubati Purandeswari: NTR’s daughter who was with the Congress party earlier is with the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is serving as the state chief of the saffron party. She is the second family member of the Nandamuri family.
Relatives of both families are leading four parties. As the elections are near it would be interesting to see how the political fight among the four leaders would be in the coming days.
