We might expect a tough fight between the ruling YSRCP and the opposition Telugu Desam Party.
Andhra Pradesh will go to elections in a few months. Before this, the state will see Rajya Sabha elections. The MP seats whose tenure would be over soon will face elections. We might expect a tough fight between the ruling YSRCP and the opposition Telugu Desam Party.
Ahead of this, an unexpected thing happened as a TDP leader’s resignation was approved. Speaker approving the resignation is not new. But the specialty of the episode is that the resignation was approved after two long years. When no one was expecting this, the resignation was approved.
Vizag North TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who won the elections in 2019 is among the strong supporters of the Vizag Steel plant movement. The sitting MLA even took part in the protests.
To show his support for the movement he submitted his resignation to the Speaker. In 2021 he submitted his resignation. However, the resignation was not approved till now due to unknown reasons.
Now it is being said that his resignation has been approved. The mainstream media has been saying that the MLA’s resignation was approved. This can be seen as a big blow to the opposition party which has won just 28 MLA seats. Now another wicket fell as the MLA’s resignation was approved by the Assembly Speaker.
We all know how intense the protests to oppose the privatisation of the Vizag Steel Plant happened in the state. The Steel Plant employees and others took part in the protests opposing the idea. Former Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao also supported the protests and even resigned as the MLA. After two years the resignation was approved.
