The 2023 Elections episode in Telangana was special in so many ways with the major parties going all guns blazing. While the parties have aimed for power the goal differed from party to party. Putting an end to the long wait, the election result was out on Sunday. The state saw a powershift with the results.

Spoiling the dream of BRS to come to power in the state and become the first party in the southern states, the Congress party bounced back and came to power. After almost a decade Congress came to power.

While the Congress party won 64 seats in the state, BRS won just 39 seats. The winning margin is big as far as the seats are concerned. But the vote percentage of both parties is very low and the same vote percentage changed the table around.

The 2023 Elections could not surpass the vote percentage of the previous elections as the final vote turnout was 71.34 percent. Out of the percentage, Congress got 39.89 percent and BRS recorded 38.08 percent votes. The difference between the votes polled for the two parties is just 1.81.

The 1.81 percent made the difference between Congress and BRS. While the Congress got 91,86,837 polls in the elections, BRS received 87,14,040 votes. Even the difference in the votes the parties got is not very big. But the mere change helped the Congress and it came to power.

Compared to the previous elections, the Congress party’s vote percentage increased by more than 10 percent and the BRS vote percentage decreased by 9.52. While Congress won 19 seats in 2018, the same increased by around three folds with a difference of 10.97 percent.

Even a single vote is important in the elections and in some instances, we have heard that the winning margin is just a few hundred votes. No matter what Congress and BRS became ruling and opposition parties with a mere difference of 1.81 percent.
