Data Hack: US Telecommunications Firm Says Data Stolen!

Technology helped the world in many ways and made our lives easier. However, the rise in technology also created space for cyber-attacks and data breaches. At regular intervals, we hear incidents of data theft. The sensitive data appears on the Dark web which can be used for the wrong means.

Raising several concerns a US telecom giant revealed a sensational thing and said that data was breached. Information like calls, data, and messages were also breached. Almost all the customers' data was stolen as per the information.

AT&T is a Telecommunications company based in the United States. It said that almost all call and text message records were stolen between May 1, 2022, to October, 31 and January 2, 2023. Millions of customers' data was stolen.

What happened is not a small thing and personal data like the call history and messaging history of the customers getting stolen is very concerning. Not just the mobile phones data of the landline phones was also stolen. With the data, one can know who called or messaged whom. However, there is no clarity on whether the content of the calls and messages was compromised or not.

An illegal download from the cloud where the data was stored is said to be the reason behind the data theft. The Federal Communications Commission had swung into action to probe the issue and AT&T said that it would offer all the required cooperation to the officials in this matter.
